ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Catherine.
I am a marriage and family therapist in California working with individuals and couples in a private practice setting. I believe that therapy is an intersection of art and science; it is a malleable medium meant to be tailored to individual needs. I work with all clients in a singular way that is expressly designed to meet the goals we identify in session.
I spent many years writing for television and know how powerful the stories we tell ourselves can be. I am profoundly moved by the way our life experiences shape who we are. It is my belief that reconnecting, or sometimes connecting for the first time, with your "true self" -- the essence of who you really are -- is one of the best ways to find peace in problematic areas. This appraoch works well for individuals and couples alike.
As a therapist, I employ a postmodern, humanistic theoretical approach which simply means I believe you are the expert in your own life. Being the captain of your ship can be overwhelming at times, so asking for help is often the most courageous thing you can do. One of the main tenets of my practice is understanding how to approach life with agency, humility and strength. It is my job not to coddle, but to empower. I listen without judgement and apply my expertise to help you chart a course to success.
